The InnerCity Mission Family Support Program is an initiative of the InnerCity Mission of Christ Embassy specially designed to keep vulnerable children off the streets. Poverty is a common experience with families who live in the inner cities; many of them cannot feed their children because they live mostly from "hand to mouth" with no promise of the next meal. Hunger drives these children to the streets in a desperate bid for survival. Through the Family Support Program, we provide food for these families, strengthening them to carry out their God-given obligation to take care of their children and by this we keep the children off the streets.
Every two[2] weeks, each family is given a Food Box containing raw food items such as Rice, Beans, "Garri" - a staple food made from cassava and Yam; the quantities are based on the number of children in the family ranging from one[1] to six[6] children and we usually give enough to feed the family for the period. More than just giving the family the much needed food supplies, we also teach them the word of God and practical things they must do to break the cycle of poverty. Many gladly accept Jesus as Lord of their lives because through meeting their physical needs, we are able to meet their spiritual needs also.
In less than six[6] months, the program has expanded to cater for 150 families representing over 350 children and still counting. You can be a part of this by adopting a family and becoming responsible for sponsoring the Food Box they receive; you can also start a family Support Center in your area or local church simply write us for more information and we will be glad to help.
Thank you Partners for making this all possible.
