Growing up without the comfort and nurture of a home is the plight of most street children who take refuge under the bridges and in uncompleted or abandoned buildings. The InnerCity Mission runs a special shelter program - a hostel facility, equipped and furnished to provide comfort, safety and care for children who we take off the streets. Through our Shelter Program, we take children ranging from 4-7 years old off the street to the safety of our shelter, most of the children at the InnerCity Mission Home for Children come from especially difficult and poor backgrounds; they majorly consist of the abandoned, displaced, exploited, orphaned and abused.
The children are brought up to know their true identity in Christ and realize their worth in a safe and supportive environment through the help of matrons and staff committed to their welfare. Our kids are growing up relating to each other as brothers and sisters, with love and respect; our primary motive is to bring them up in the way of the Lord and train them to love God. Our facility is dedicated to provide the comfort, security and support that children need in their growing years; it is equipped, furnished and staffed to provide the ambiance of a Christian home for the nurturing and upbringing of godly children. They are brought up to know their true identity in Christ and realize their worth in a safe and supportive environment; the children are trained to be responsible citizens and are equipped with the finesse and confidence that would put them at ease in any social setting.
Proverbs 22:6 says train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Every day, the children and
staff pray together as a family in the morning when they wake up and at night before they go to bed;
the older children are actively
involved in leading prayers and worship and in sharing God's word. We also have Cell Groups for Bible Study and every child belongs to a
Cell with the older boys and girls as the Cell leaders.
