ICM OUTREACHES
In the InnerCity Mission, we are committed to reaching the poor and the needy in the back ends of civilization, our specially trained teams of missionaries comb the inner cities, go through sprawling squatter settlements, under bridges, on the rubbish heap etc ministering to the children one-on-one. It has necessitated the implementation of various strategies to reach them against all odds and ensure we set them on the course they should follow.
The Outreach Center
This is a fellowship center set up to reach children in a particular community or defined geographical area, we lead children to Christ and bring them up in the word of God through prayer, worship, Bible Study and outreach meetings. These Outreach centers form the backbone of ICM Programs in the inner cities because it is in these Outreach Centers that the kids are really impacted with the Word of God and beneficiaries of our other programs are identified.
Our ChildReach Programs
One of the hallmarks of the InnerCity Mission is the ChildReach program designed specially to lead children to Christ and minister to their stomachs; during these outings, every child present gets a free meal and they have lots of fun. Often, we give out free items of clothing to the children and our Medical Team attends to basic health care needs - this includes dispensing of basic drugs for malaria, de-worming etc. More serious cases are referred to nearby Government or partner hospitals.
Family Support Program
We not only reach out to street children but to families and single adults who produce these street children; the Family Support Program is an
off-shoot of the work of our Outreach Teams and it is a welfare program designed to help poor
families with children
stay together till they earn
enough money to take care of
themselves, this helps prevent the children from being forced to life on the street.
